Hi, I am Nancy Davis. I am 63 years old and the mother of two daughters. I have always been interested in staying fit. I was an active child. I did a form of aerobics in high school (by myself) before I knew what aerobics was. I joined a fitness club for the first time two years after I graduated from college. I have been consistent with cardio exercising throughout my life. I have also done circuit exercises that someone at the gym would set up for me. I started working with a personal trainer in my early 40’s to develop and increase my strength and muscle mass, and to work on balance and stability.
I have considered exercise very important from the time I was a teenager. The truth is, my mother was obese and eventually developed Type 2 diabetes in her mid-50’s. I did not want to find myself in the same situation when I became an adult. I saw how diabetes affected my mother…she developed congestive heart failure which affected her day to day life dramatically. Her stamina decreased and she became less social. My mother also was less stable as she moved around. I assume her muscle mass was also decreasing because it does for all of us as we age, unless we work to maintain it. My mother passed at the age of 75 because of her diabetes. She still was sharp as a tack mentally but her body failed. I promised myself I would do everything I can to stay as healthy as I can for as long as I can.
I joined a gym in NE Ohio in the Fall of 2010 and met Crystal Ellington. She became my personal trainer. We worked together for 2 or 3 years until I moved away.
Crystal had me fill out a questionnaire that asked me what my goals were for my health. She also asked if I had any health issues, etc. She put together a program for me and we met 3 times a week. I got stronger! And, my balance improved dramatically.
My take aways from working with Crystal: I didn’t need to lose much weight, but I did lose about 10 pounds. I have maintained that weight loss to this day. My balance has improved exponentially because of all the balance exercises that Crystal taught me that I continue to do. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s toward the end of our working relationship and Crystal was so supportive in the diet that I had to maintain. Finally, Crystal is incredibly knowledgeable about what she is doing, she is inspirational, she is kind and she is fun! I have worked with several trainers over the years, and Crystal is my all-time favorite.

“I’ve worked with Crystal for more than a year and saw amazing results in that time. I have never felt stronger or healthier in my life. If you are truly serious about changing your life for the better, Crystal will lead you every step of the way. She is passionate about fitness and it shows through the energy and enthusiasm she brings to each of our training sessions. Crystal makes each of our workout sessions challenging, creative and fun! Without a doubt, it is Crystal’s easy-going, amiable personality and her emphasis on correct form during our sessions that keeps me coming back week after week. If you wish to improve your energy, become more physically flexible, and develop muscles you never knew you could have, Crystal is your person!” Crystal is awesome! She shares applicable tips, techniques and tools. Even when I whine, she just keeps pushing me, she doesn’t soften, and she doesn’t give me any passes. She’s very fitness knowledgeable and dedicated to my success.”

“I wanted to say thanks to Crystal and her services, for the 4 years of training and encouragement. I want to say thanks for all the effort that she put into organizing my progress. Every week is different so I keep being challenged, which made for a better and fun workout. After preparing in my off season with Crystal I felt fitter and more prepared for the season ahead. I am so much fitter than I was. I can’t begin to tell how much I have enjoyed myself, training with Crystal. To have me happily go from a demanding track practice to a training session— Crystal must be doing something right.”

“Its been a honor training with Crystal. She is a great person and an excellent trainer. Going in to train with Crystal is always fun because we can be silly and still get after it at the same time. She provides a safe and fun environment for people to work in and everyone enjoys her presents. I would not be where I’m at in my life and athletic ability without Crystal. She knows the right techniques to make someone stronger and faster in the matter of months. She is a true professional and friend. I want to thank Crystal for all that she has done and will do for me in the future.”

2010 Columbus Half Marathon
The Craigs wanted to complete their first 1/2 marathon. Although Mandy was told she shouldn’t run again, due to knee problems, they were determined. Not only did they complete the 1/2 marathon together, they did it without stopping. They crossed the finish line hand n’ hand.
