EMPOWER– the authority or power to do something.
I want to share this short yet hopefully effective message to you that has helped me out tremendously. Its a great reminder when you get to a place where you think you may not be good enough or don’t know enough.
Sometimes we get caught in this space of being stagnant because we think we need to know EVERYTHING about what we are doing to make a move. In thinking that, we never make that move because we put so much expectation on ourselves. I have been there before, but realized and was wonderfully reminded, I don’t have to be an expert to make moves in what I love. I start with with what I do know and build on it.
Now don’t get me wrong, it can be intimidating and scary to not know everything you need to know in order to make moves, but if you have the vision and faith, that alone should empower you to make things happen.
I remember starting my 4Star Fitness business in 2008 from scratch not knowing HOW and WHAT to do. All I knew is that I wanted to help people in the realm of health and fitness. I took what I already knew and what I had been doing so far and started with that. Everything else came in time. I learned as I went through the journey. I was scared because I knew I didn’t have all of the tools and resources I needed right then, but I was patient enough to allow those tools and resources to come in time….They came right on time.
It’s great to have others inspire and motivate you to do something, but its another thing when you have to do it for yourself. You truly have to empower yourself. There are so many variables that can keep us from thinking we are not adequate enough to accomplish something, when in essence, all we need is our love for what we do and our vision. We start small and create from there.
Empowering yourself is like self talk. Its needed. Something will always come up where it will make us feel uncomfortable, making us try to move slower. We may not have everything we need now but that doesn’t mean movement still can’t be made now.
I leave you with this- When I think of Empowering myself, I think of the scripture Matthew 17:20, Jesus said,
“Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
