Daniel Fast for 2016

Today my Pastor let us know that he would like us all to join in the new year fasting and focusing on God.

I have always heard about the Daniel fast and to be honest, never took it seriously enough to make that commitment. BUT NOW that I am older, wiser, and have a child, the Lord has really dealt with my heart. This all takes a lot of preparation and discipline MENTALLY. If anyone is unable to follow the Daniel fast, it is suggested fasting from social media, TV or whatever God is leading you to fast.

To be honest, most of what the Daniel fast is, I already do;

Diet includes; ALL FRUITS, VEGGIES, WHOLE GRAINS, LEGUMES, NUTS/SEEDS, QUALITY OILS (canola, olive, sesame etc), WATER

Avoid; ALL MEAT PRODUCTS, DAIRY, SWEETNERS, LEAVENED BREAD, REFINED/PROCESSED PRODUCTS, DEEP FRIED FOODS, SOLID FATS, BEVERAGES (carbonated, coffee, tea, energy drinks, alcohol)

For me, I truly feel God wants me to mentally focus on the things I struggle with the most and that’s what I am going to look to overcome &  accomplish when this New Year comes. FRENCH FRIES, DRINKING WATER,  (I love my cranberry juice and other juices!!!) BUTTER ON SOME OF MY FOODS,  I know I need to purify myself, and a sweet tooth. God surely knows I fight myself with my beverages (any juice or here and there sodas), and its a struggle for me!

So I am vowing, when it comes time for this fast to begin, that’s what I am going to push through and connect with God. I think I NEED some of those products when I really don’t. All I need is God’s strength. I am excited to see the results after the fast (which will be 21 days) It takes approx. 2 weeks for a habit change. My husband will be doing it also, so there will be support and accountability going along with this.

It wont be easy, but it is needed and things that are easy are never worth it.

If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you!
